Shekarau undisciplined politician – leader of NNPP

A leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party in Ondo state, Chief Oladipo Quadri, said the defection of a former Kano state governor, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, from the party would have no effect on the party, adding that he (Shekarau) was not a disciplined politician.

Shekarau quit the NNPP for the People’s Democratic Party in Kano on Monday, urging his supporters to work for the victory of the PDP in the 2023 general election.

Speaking on the development on Tuesday, the NNPP leader said the former Kano governor’s defection spoke volumes about the kind of politician he (Shekarau) was.

Quadri, who is the party’s candidate for the federal House of Representatives in the state’s Owo/Ose federal constituency, said the politicians’ defection showed a lack of political discipline and was not good for democracy. from the country.

He said, “In Nigeria today, there is no discipline from many of our politicians. They jump from party to party. More worrying is the caliber of some politicians who claim to be role models for newcomers.

“For our democracy to thrive and be enduring, there must be political discipline, selfless service and respect for the constitution, hierarchy, ideals and aspirations of the party.”

He encouraged party loyalists across the country to focus, describing the NNPP as the third force that was there to save Nigeria and Nigerians.

The House of Representatives hopeful said Owo and Ose’s party received dozens of defectors from the country’s two “giant parties” daily.

He said he is confident that his track record in federal riding will put him ahead of other candidates in next year’s general election.
