No politician has the credentials of Alao-Akala in Oyo-Makinde

Oyo State Governor ‘Seyi Makinde on Thursday paid a condolence visit to the family of the late former Oyo State Governor, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, saying the state had lost “perhaps its most experienced politician” in the former governor.

Governor Makinde, while addressing the widows, family and political associates of the late former Governor at his residence at Opadoyin Lodge, Randa area, Ogbomoso, said the visit was officially aimed at to offer his condolences to the family on the passing of someone he described as a leader, brother, mentor and man on the ground.

A statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, quoted Governor Makinde as saying that the late Alao-Akala was a lover of Ogbomoso and Oyo State and had made many his best as governor of the state.

He said, “I am here this afternoon on behalf of the government and people of Oyo State, to offer my condolences to the family of our late leader, brother, mentor, former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala.
“We cannot question God. I spoke with him again five days ago. I told someone that I wanted to ask him to come and report the road project between Ogbomoso and Iseyin, and the person told me that I should not do such a step, because he would deal with it politically.

“But I called him and he surprisingly said ‘Seyi, I’ll be there to report it.’

“He asked me to give him only 48 hours notice, pick the date and I was looking forward to it. But who are we to question God? Sometimes it’s not how long but how well and I will explain it to you here we have my brother Senator Teslim Folarin I can also see Hon Segun Odebunmi (Bunvic) and almost all the political tendencies of Oyo State are here We have lost perhaps the most experienced politician this state has ever produced.

“Chief Alao-Akala was a man of the field. He rose from chairman of local government to deputy governor to acting governor and state governor. Who else has the powers? No one in Oyo State.

The governor called on the former governor’s family members, friends and supporters to take comfort in the fact that he lived a good life and to thank God even in their grief.

While thanking the Governor for his visit, the son of the late former Governor, Olamiju Alao-Akala thanked Governor Makinde for his prompt response and visiting the family.

“On behalf of the whole family, we would like to thank you for your quick response and your visits to the family. We appreciate your efforts and those of the people of the state. Thank you very much,” he said.
