Arena Analytics CEO Myra Norton Named to Maryland Governor’s Workforce Development Council
This appointment builds on Norton’s deep expertise in creating Fair and equitable hiring practices for the entire workforce
BALTIMORE, August 17, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Arena Analytics, a company that helps people and organizations chart the future of work using advanced artificial intelligence and data analytics, today announced that CEO Myra Norton was appointed to Maryland Governor’s Workforce Development Board the Governor’s primary decision-making body for workforce development in the State of Maryland.
The Governor’s Workforce Development Council is responsible for developing policies and strategies to form a coordinated system of workforce development in conjunction with state employment and training , economic development, education partners and significant business input. The board is made up of 59 members, the majority of whom represent the business community. Other members include from maryland governor larry hogan, cabinet secretaries, college presidents, the state superintendent of schools, elected officials, labor unions, and representatives of nonprofit organizations. Board members are appointed by from maryland Governor, and the Maryland The General Assembly leadership appoints a state senator and a delegate. Private sector appointees serve four-year terms.
Myra Norton brings to the Board in-depth expertise in labor market issues. As CEO of Arena Analytics, Norton led the development and deployment of innovative solutions that leverage data to help employers create a more productive and equitable workforce. Previously, Norton was CEO of Community Analytics, analyst at Northrop Grumman, professor of math and statistics at Temple University, Towson Universityand the US Naval Academyand trustee of the College of Science and Technology of Temple University. She is past chair of the board of the Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO); is a member of the Innovation, Development and Entrepreneurship Advisory Council (IDEA), which champions innovation and entrepreneurship through Johns Hopkins University; and chairs the BmoreSTEM Infrastructure Working Group, which works to increase equitable student access and retention in STEM fields.

The mission of the CTE Committee is to build an integrated and globally competitive framework to provide CTE to Maryland public school students, post-secondary institutions and the workforce. The CTE committee is made up of 11 members, including the state superintendent, secretary of higher education, secretary of labor, secretary of commerce, and six members appointed jointly by the governor, the president of the Senate, and the president of bedroom.
